Seeking a remote contractor for the role of IBM DB2 DBA with extensive experience and skill with IBM DB2 to support multiple customers in a Cloud operations environment. Provide database administration and operational support installing, configuring, implementing, and monitoring IBM DB2 Databases on RedHat OpenShift and Linux operating systems. Will work closely and collaborate with other IT professionals in deploying and maintaining DB2 database in support of IBM Maximo applications.

All work is remote and excellent communication skills (verbal and written) are required.

US citizenship is required and must be able to pass a security background check.

Job Responsibilities:

• Develop, document, and implement operational policies, procedures, playbooks for continued maintenance and optimization of DB2 databases in support of client applications.
• Provide Linux configuration parameters for supporting a large and complex database.
• Implement best practices for DB2 I/O, CPU utilization, Reorg/Runstats, and data storage configuration for large databases
• Manage database users and security privileges as integrated with LDAP and RedHat
• Work with and without db2 encryption as it relates to backup/restore and environment refreshes.
• Implement best practices for high availability and replication with HADR or DB2 clustering
• Develop and update Ansible and other automation scripts
• Implement and support DB2 database in Red Hat OpenShift or Kubernetes Clusters and Linux OS
• Respond to service request tickets to support various Federal and Commercial clients.
• Database security and hardening and compliance with ISO 27001, NIST 800-53, STIG/CIS
• Conduct reactive troubleshooting and proactive performance monitoring and tuning .
• Develop, document, and support Database backup and recovery solutions.
• Perform DB2 patches and upgrade installation in the post go-live environment.
• Participate in 24/7 on-call rotation

Required Skills and Experience

• 5+ years of experience in DB2 LUW database administration with demonstrated expertise in the implementation, and support of and reliable DB2 databases in a Linux environment.
• Ability to work effectively in a RedHat Linux and OpenShift environment.
• Demonstrated expertise in troubleshooting and maintaining operational databases
• Demonstrated experience with automation techniques to reduce labor cost
• Database Languages (e.g., SQL, Procedural Languages, Shell Scripting etc.)
• Demonstrated expertise in setting up and maintaining database replication and high availability methods.
• Excellent technical and analytical writing skills required.
• Strong communication and organizational skills required
• Must be able to multitask, work independently, but at the same time contribute and work effectively towards team objectives.

Education and Credentials

• Bachelor’s degree in computer sciences, engineering, or its equivalent
• Education can be substituted by sufficient experience.
• IBM Certified Database Administrator – DB2
• MongoDB Certified DBA
