We are seeking an experienced IT Enterprise Architect contractor to define, govern, and evolve our client’s enterprise architecture for cloud-based software solutions. This role ensures our architecture aligns with business goals, accelerates delivery, strengthens security and compliance, and optimizes cost and performance across our SaaS/PaaS platforms. The ideal candidate brings deep cloud expertise (AWS/Azure/GCP), enterprise architecture frameworks, modern integration patterns, and the ability to influence strategic outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
Architectural Strategy & Design

• Develop and maintain the enterprise architecture (EA) roadmap aligned to business strategy.
• Create reference architectures, patterns, and standards for cloud-native, event-driven, and microservices architectures.
• Drive reuse of shared platforms, APIs, and services across products and business units.
• Provide technical guidance and leadership to the most complex and visible projects.

Cloud & Infrastructure

• Design scalable, resilient, secure, and cost-effective architecture on AWS/Azure/GCP.
• Lead modernization and migration plans for legacy systems to cloud.
• Partner with SRE/Platform Engineering on reliability, observability, capacity planning, and performance tuning.

Integration & Data

• Establish integration strategy (API-first, messaging/event streaming, data mesh/lakehouse) and master data alignment.
• Govern API lifecycle, versioning, and developer experience (DX).
• Define scalable cloud data architecture.

Security, Risk & Compliance

• Embed security-by-design (Zero Trust, IAM, encryption, secrets management, vulnerability remediation).
• Ensure alignment with regulatory needs (e.g., SOC 2, ISO 27001, GDPR/CCPA, HIPAA if applicable).

Governance & Ways of Working

• Operate an Architecture Review Board (ARB), standards catalog, and exception process.
• Define architecture decision records (ADRs), guardrails, and reference implementations.
• Mentor solution architects and engineering teams; enable strong DevSecOps practices and CI/CD.

Stakeholder Engagement & Communication

• Translate complex technical concepts into clear business value for executives and cross-functional leaders.
• Produce architecture blueprints, capability maps, and system interaction diagrams.

 
Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
• Experience:
• 8 -10+ years in architecture roles; 3-5+ years leading cloud-native architectures.
• Proven application of EA frameworks (TOGAF, Zachman) and cloud reference architectures.
• Experience with SaaS multitenancy, PaaS services, and platform/API productization.
• Technical Skills:
• Cloud architecture (AWS/Azure/GCP), infrastructure-as-code (Terraform/Bicep), Kubernetes, containers.
• API design (REST/GraphQL), event streaming (Kafka), service mesh, observability (OpenTelemetry).
• Experience and proficiency in designing cloud data and analytics architecture
• DevSecOps and CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions/Azure DevOps/Jenkins), SRE practices.
• SaaS Implementation and Architecture
• Soft Skills: Executive presence, systems thinking, strong communication, influence without authority, facilitation.

 
Preferred Certifications

• TOGAF 9/10, AWS Certified Solutions Architect (Pro), Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Google Professional Cloud Architect, CISSP/CCSP (nice to have).
