Our Columbus, Ohio client is seeking a continuous improvement minded Cloud Systems Administrator to own systems and process implementation, integrations, and maintenance to effectively scale a rapidly growing business. This role will support an evolving systems infrastructure for all locations and remote operations. The successful individual will not only protect critical client information, systems, and assets, but also provide technical solutions, and collaborate in the development of the overall IT strategy.
Systems Administration

  • Ensure all systems and dashboards have secure connections and perform smoothly to serve the needs of employees and students
  • Configure, customize, integrate, and perform systems administration duties for critical products such as Google Workspace, Zoho, and Slack
  • Design, implement, and maintain cloud-based platform solutions to solve complex business needs
  • Maintain and support cloud database servers
  • Perform Linux server administration tasks, including user/group administration, security permissions, and managing group policies
  • Research and monitor system event log warnings and errors
  • Establish and implement system monitoring tools to verify critical business processes are running as expected
  • Develop processes to keep servers patched and up-to-date
  • Establish appropriate runbooks for operational support, and execute on runbooks as needed
  • Monitor and respond to incoming requests, such as defects, errors, and feature requests in a timely manner
  • Work closely with the development team to automate releases to various environments using continuous integration tools
  • Develop and maintain system, network, and process documentation

IT Growth Strategy

  • Review and recommend technology or process improvements to facilitate scalability
  • Create and maintain disaster recovery and redundancy plans
  • Ensure security and privacy best practices are incorporated into hardware, infrastructure, end-user, and software standards

Network Infrastructure and Hardware Support

  • Manage third-party vendors in collaboration with our hardware/networking lead
  • Manage security and access control standards
  • Support our hardware/networking lead with an understanding of the following:
    • Mobile and remote access to services
    • Wired and wireless networks
    • Critical growth execution of hardware lifecycle management

Experience and Requirements:

  • 5+ years of working experience administering, securing, and maintaining Linux infrastructure
  • 5+ years of experience hosting and managing high-availability web based applications
  • 3+ years of experience with Git
  • 3+ years of working experience with Docker and Azure
  • 3 – 5 years of working experience with PostgreSQL
  • 3 – 5 years of working experience writing and reading code and scripts using modern programming languages, such as Python, JavaScript, or similar is preferred
  • 1 Year of year working experience using agile methodologies
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated experience learning new technologies
  • Willing to occasionally travel to support campus operations and other events
