We have an immediate need for a Scientist with our client in Tucson, AZ. Responsible for initiating, directing and executing scientific research, development and manufacturing process strategies to support new and existing products. Investigates the feasibility of applying a wide variety of scientific principles and concepts to potential inventions, products and problems.
  
Remote position with minimum one week a month required on site.

  • Scientific individual with demonstrated proficiency to recognize histological features using a microscope to interpret staining patterns and/or intensities of stained slides for companion diagnostic specific assays.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with tissue screening activities using Human Protein Atlas as a reference highly desirable.

  
Responsibilities:

  • Interprets staining patterns for various Immunohistochemistry (IHC) markers for current and new products.
  • Presents and discusses results of experiments within department and project team.
  • Maintains high level of professional expertise through familiarity with scientific literature.
  • Follows company policies and procedures for Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), Design Control and others as appropriate.
  • Maintains records as needed.
  • Provides leadership and mentoring to colleagues.
  • Identifies various tissue types and basic histology.
  • Compares staining localization, patterns and intensities of test slides to reference slides.
  • Interprets IHC markers and probes and provides readings to scientists on the project. Independently reads markers for feasibility studies.
  • Works and interacts with the Pathology Medical Office.
  • Maintains records as needed.
  • Prepares and delivers presentations and discusses results within work team.
  • Makes suggestions to improve work processes.
  • Maintains expertise through familiarity with scientific literature.
  • Provides leadership and mentoring to colleagues.
  • Monitors work to ensure quality, and continuously promote Quality First Time.
  • Conceives, designs, conducts and leads advanced independent or multi-disciplinary research driven by strategic business needs in compound, assay, process, product, method or system integration development.
  • Project goals are broadly defined; defines project milestones; responsible for timely project completion.
  • Makes major contributions to strategic directions and projects through knowledge of technology and its creative applications.
  • Drives activities for publication and/or patent potential.
  • Conceives, plans, and executes projects related to the strategic needs of the company
  • Designs and executes experiments to test hypothesis related project outcomes; extracts the full relevance of scientific observations
  • Applies advanced scientific knowledge to multi-disciplinary projects.
  • Assures experimental quality through sound experimental design; utilizes DOE; assists in the design of experiments for others.
  • Participates or leads cross functional technical teams such as a failure investigation or core team.
  • Develops and maintains internal and external contacts to maintain technical knowledge.

Qualifications:

  • Medical degree helpful
  • NAACLS accredited Histotechnology program HT or HTL (ASCP) certification helpful.
  • Strong knowledge of histology.
  • Proficient at Microsoft Office, and use of email; skilled with use of word processing, spreadsheets, graphical and presentation software applications
  • Familiar with searching scientific literature.
  • Ability to demonstrate technical proficiency, scientific creativity, collaboration with others and independent thought.
  • Able to exercise judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.
  • Strong understanding of scientific principles and concepts.
  • Ability to apply advanced technical writing skills to produce reports and documents.

  
Education:

  • Ph.D. degree in Science with 5 years’ experience, OR
  • Master’s degree with 8 years, OR
  • Bachelor’s with 12 years’ relevant experience.
