Job Description
Our client has a direct hire opportunity in Dallas, TX for a skilled and motivated Director, IT Security and Support. The Director, IT Security and Support will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation and security of the organization’s IT infrastructure. This position is responsible for providing technical support to staff, maintaining and enhancing cybersecurity measures, and assisting in the implementation of IT projects.
This role involves maintaining and supporting IT systems, ensuring security protocols are followed, managing user access, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem solver with a passion for supporting a non-profit mission through effective and secure IT solutions.
- Must be located in the Dallas, TX area with unrestricted transportation. Role will be hybrid.
Key Responsibilities:
- Technical Support:
- Provide timely and effective technical support to staff, troubleshooting hardware, software, and network issues.
- Install, configure, and maintain computer systems, software, and peripherals.
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and access rights in accordance with best practices.
- AWS Infrastructure Management:
- Monitor, maintain, and optimize AWS infrastructure, including EC2 instances, S3 storage, Transfer Family, SFTP, and other AWS services.
- Implement and manage AWS security groups, IAM roles, and permissions.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to AWS, ensuring high availability and performance.
- Security Management:
- Implement and maintain cybersecurity measures to protect sensitive data and systems including SOCs compliance.
- Monitor and respond to security incidents and vulnerabilities.
- Conduct regular security audits and risk assessments.
- Develop and deliver security awareness training for staff, ensuring they understand and follow security best practices.
- Maintain and review security policies, procedures, and access controls.
- Compliance:
- Ensure adherence to relevant compliance standards and regulations, such as FERPA and other data protection laws.
- Assist in preparing for and conducting internal and external audits.
- Maintain documentation related to compliance policies, procedures, and controls.
- Support initiatives to ensure IT practices align with legal and regulatory requirements.
- IT Projects:
- Support the planning and execution of IT projects and initiatives.
- Collaborate with team members to improve and optimize IT processes and systems.
- Data Backup and Disaster Recovery:
- Oversee data backup and disaster recovery planning to safeguard organizational data and ensure business continuity.
- Implement, test, and manage backup systems and disaster recovery protocols to minimize downtime in the event of a system failure or data loss.
- Software and Patch Management:
- Ensure that all systems are up-to-date with the latest software updates, patches, and security fixes.
- Schedule and implement patch management processes to minimize security vulnerabilities across IT systems.
- IT Inventory Management:
- Manage IT assets, including hardware, software, and licenses, ensuring all systems are accounted for and secure.
- Perform regular audits to track inventory and ensure compliance with internal policies.
- Vendor Management:
- Manage relationships with external vendors and service providers, particularly for third-party security tools, software licenses, and cloud services.
- Ensure vendor services meet internal security and operational standards and collaborate with vendors to resolve any technical or security issues.
- Onboarding and Offboarding:
- Oversee user onboarding and offboarding processes, ensuring appropriate access rights, system configurations, and security protocols are followed.
- Remove or modify user access for departing employees to ensure data security and compliance.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain detailed documentation of IT systems, processes, and procedures.
- Generate reports on IT performance, security incidents, and support activities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in IT support and cybersecurity.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience managing AWS infrastructure.
- Strong knowledge of computer hardware, software, and network systems.
- Knowledge of compliance requirements and audit processes.
- Experience with SSO systems, preferably Okta.
- Familiarity with Windows, macOS, and Linux operating systems.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Passion for supporting non-profit missions and working in a collaborative environment
- Experience with SOCs 1 and 2 compliance
Preferred Qualifications:
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified SysOps Administrator, or similar certifications are highly desirable.
- Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, or equivalent.
- Strong understanding of IT security principles and practices.
- Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) is a plus.
- Experience working in a non-profit or similar environment.
- Knowledge of cloud computing platforms and services.
