Market Research Specialist
Department: Product Experience
Reports To: Director of Product Research
Location: Remote
Employment Type: Contractor

Position Overview
The Market Research Specialist will play a pivotal role in influencing innovation and strategic decision-making by delivering actionable insights into market trends, customer needs, and competitive dynamics. This role involves supporting research initiatives that inform product development, marketing strategy, pricing, and go-to-market plans.

You will collaborate closely with user researchers and product analytics as well as cross-functionally with product teams and others to ensure our solutions align with evolving market demands in the education sector. Additionally, you will support research operations and manage external research vendors to scale efforts effectively.

Key Responsibilities
Product Research Collaboration

  • Collaborate with product leaders to define and execute the market research strategy, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Partner with Product Marketing, Product Management, and additional product development groups to develop informed research plans for all phases of the lifecycle—from opportunity evaluation through sunset.
  • Lead discussions and synthesis workshops with stakeholders to translate research findings into actionable recommendations

Market Analysis & Competitive Intelligence

  • Conduct in-depth qualitative and quantitative research on market trends, customer segments, and emerging technologies in the education industry.
  • Leverage primary and secondary research, news, and other sources of competitive intelligence to develop insightful analyses of education product, consumer, and competitive trends.

Customer Insights

  • Design and implement surveys, focus groups, and interviews to uncover educator, student, and institutional needs and pain points.
  • Apply statistical methods to identify, analyze, and interpret trends and patterns in complex, multi-source data, delivering actionable insights.

Data Interpretation & Reporting

  • Analyze data sets from internal and external sources to deliver actionable insights and dashboards.
  • Synthesize research findings into clear, compelling reports and presentations for executive and product teams.
  • Ensure data quality and maintain detailed project documentation while complying with PII policies.

Research Operations & Vendor Management

  • Plan and execute research using optimized methods based on budget and timeline.
  • Select and manage research partners and vendors to scale market research efforts effectively.
  • Support research operations practices, including market, user, and analytics research.

Qualifications
Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, economics, statistics, education, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in market research, competitive intelligence, or strategy—preferably within the EdTech, SaaS, or education industries.
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative research skills, including survey design, data analysis, and interview moderation.
  • Familiarity with human-centered design and continuous discovery approaches to learning
  • Proficiency with research and analytics tools (e.g., Qualtrics, Tableau, Power BI, SPSS, or similar).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present insights clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deliver results under tight deadlines.
  • Knowledge of the K-12 learning markets

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree in marketing research, data analytics, or business administration.
  • Experience working with educational institutions, curriculum providers, or similar
