The QA Engineer ensures software quality through comprehensive testing strategies and automation solutions. Working closely with scrum teams, this role designs and executes test plans, identifies defects, and collaborates with developers and stakeholders to deliver reliable products. The QA Engineer combines manual and automated testing approaches to validate system functionality, performance, and user experience across all product releases.

This is a hybrid role based in Columbus, Ohio. Candidates must reside in the Columbus area. In-office attendance will align with the department’s schedule, which is determined collaboratively by the team.
 
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Review requirements, specifications, and technical design documents to provide timely feedback and ensure testability
  • Create detailed, comprehensive test plans and test cases based on system requirements and user stories
  • Design, develop, and execute automated test scripts using open source tools and frameworks
  • Estimate, prioritize, and coordinate testing activities within agile development cycles
  • Identify, document, and track software defects through resolution, performing thorough regression testing
  • Collaborate with developers, product managers, and stakeholders to understand system requirements and testing needs
  • Develop and implement testing processes for new and existing products to meet client specifications
  • Monitor and analyze quality assurance metrics including defect densities, test coverage, and resolution rates
  • Investigate root causes of software issues and provide guidance on implementation solutions
  • Stay current with emerging testing tools, methodologies, and industry best practices
  • Train team members and end users on testing processes and quality standards
  • Experience with Postman, qTest, and Splunk
  • Use AI tools to create, review, and enhance test cases, scripts, and test data, while identifying coverage gaps and logic issues in AI-generated output
  • Contribute to test automation frameworks and apply sound judgment on when AI can be integrated responsibly versus when human oversight is required
  • Other duties as assigned

 
QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field required
  • 3+ years of experience in software quality assurance and testing
  • Experience working in agile/scrum development environments
  • Proficiency with test automation tools and scripting languages
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple testing projects simultaneously
  • Critical thinking mindset focused on identifying potential system vulnerabilities
  • Experience with Postman, qTest, and Splunk
  • Use AI tools to create, review, and enhance test cases, scripts, and test data, while identifying coverage gaps and logic issues in AI-generated output
  • Contribute to test automation frameworks and apply sound judgment on when AI can be integrated responsibly versus when human oversight is required
  • Experience with or willingness to learn AI tools and emerging technologies

 
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with performance and security testing methodologies
  • Knowledge of continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) practices
  • Familiarity with API testing and database validation techniques
